This Index is intended to record the majority of professional and amateur photographers whose work is represented in the Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS) Photograph Collection. The data has been taken from the three-volume typescript manuscript Index to Photographers compiled by RCS Library staff and volunteers between about 1980 and 1985. Where further information has been available, the original entries have been augmented. Even so, it has not always been possible to tell whether a photographer was a commercial practitioner or an amateur, nor the extent to which the contents of photograph albums assembled by individuals represent their own work, or that of others. |
