A.J. Tattersall was born in Auckland, New Zealand in 1861. He worked for the photographic firms of 'Redfen' and later 'Tuttles and Co', Auckland. Tattersall went to Apia, Samoa to work for J. Davis. He took over the business on the death of Davis in 1893. Tattersall made a photographic record of the Samoan Civil War of 1899. | |||
