item it is presented that whereas Roger Brownson before this was presented to be seised of one cottage and garden late Humfrie's as it is now enclosed abutting upon Chalkney Croft on one part and the highway leading towards Great Tey on the other part held of the manor of Earls Colne and that by the better consideration and judgement of the said homage in this part it is clearly shown that the aforesaid premises are held of this manor therefore now to this court came the aforesaid Roger Brownson in person and humbly sought from the lord admittance thereof to the aforesaid premises with appurtenances to whom the lord by his aforesaid steward granted thereof seisin to him to have to him and his heirs from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of this same manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and his fine was respited and he was admitted thereof tenant of the lord
