and also at this court it is shown by the homage that Jn Church gentleman late customary tenant of this manor before this court died seised in his demesne as of fee of and in certain customary lands held by copy of a roll of this court viz of and in one parcel of a garden of a certain Robt Peerson gentleman which same said parcel containing in length 6rod4ft and in breadth 9rod lying in Colne St in viz between the remainder of the aforesaid garden of the said Robt Peerson called Grapnells on one part towards the west and a parcel of garden late parcel of the said garden called Grapnells late of Geo Beeston and afterwards of Barth Churche on the other part towards the west one head thereof abutting upon the kings highway called Colne St towards the south and the other head thereof abutting upon lands late of the said Barth towards the north which same said parcel of garden among other things the aforesaid Jn Church surrendered into the hands of the lord to the use of his last will by which last will it is now shown by the aforesaid homage bearing the date 23.2.1617 that the aforesaid Jn Church gave and bequeathed the aforesaid premises to Barth Churche son and heir of Jn himself his heirs and assigns forever the tenor of which last will concerning the premises in the following english words viz the residue of all my lands and tenements not formerly given I give and bequeath unto Barth Churche my eldest son to him his heirs and assigns forever after my decease now to this court came the aforesaid Barth Churche and humbly sought from the lord admittance to the aforesaid premises to have to him and his heirs according to the effect of the said last will to whom the lord by his aforesaid steward granted thereof seisin to him to have to him and his heirs forever to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine and made fealty and was admitted thereof tenant of the lord
