N. Walwin Holm started a commercial photographic business in Accra circa 1882. As a photographer he accompanied the acting Governor of Lagos Colony, George C. Denton, during the expedition to annex Ado to Lagos in 1891. He moved to Lagos in 1892. He enrolled as a member of the Royal Photographic Society in 1897 and in the same year photographed chiefs during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations. He won prizes for his photography at the Sekondi Agricultural Show in 1907. In 1910 he travelled to England for health reasons. He studied law and was called to the Bar in 1917. He returned to Lagos and practised as a barrister. His photographic firm was continued by his son J.A.C. Holm. |
