Norton Brothers was a photographic company active in Georgetown, British Guiana (now Guyana), circa 1876-1890. In the 1876 edition of the 'British Guiana directory...' the company is listed at Holmes Street and Murray Street (1876, p.77, 177 and xxxviii). Both locations are mentioned In the 1877 edition of directory (1977, p.80, 175 and xxiv). However, in the 1878 edition only Murray Street is mentioned (1878, p.84 and 187). In 1879 the firm seems to have moved to Church Street, near Water Street ('British Guiana directory...' 1879, p.83 and 188). The company remained here until 1887 ('British Guiana directory...' 1887, p.251). The firm accompanied Sir Everard im Thurn as photographers on an expedition to Kaieteur Falls in October to November 1878. A series of views were published of the trip. The firm possibly moved to St Vincent in circa 1890. | |||
