Large carved wooden figure representing Litamluen a village elder of Mongsemdi made by men of neighbouring village of Susu which had a long-standing quarrel with the former. The figure, with others, was kept in the morung and periodically feasted with intent to produce and decapitate them on a special feast day and so cause illness or death of the person represented. A formal tabu would be observed for their deaths on the decapitation, which would have a corresponding effect upon the human originals. Ao. |
