text: Inside the village, all the smaller boys and girls were playing with tops. The stone is carefully cut into two cones and is spun in exactly the same way as tops the world over. With their cropped and shaved hair these younger boys are by no means prepossessing, and it is (4) only the young men with their black kilts, white cowries, ivory armlets and red necklaces who make a dashing sight. In contrast to the men almost all the women are dull and drab.
