text: The village consists of an upper and lower Khel. The upper is Chongli and the lower Mongsen. In 1943 the whole of the lower Khel was burnt and although most of it has now been rebuilt the villagers can still talk of little else. When I asked the gaonbura how long he had held the post, he replied 'For five fires'. As a precaution some of the villagers have now built underground shelters where they can quickly stow their clothes and grain.
