E. Angami. Chizema. Carved stone figures for a great warrior or a great lady-killer - the man is buried just outside his house, then a circle also a parapet of stones is built, filled in with earth, and his prowess in war and love is chronicled. |

2 carved figures - head and a tubular figure = the man and his wife, then to their left and behind, a number of roughly hewn heads (a tally of the enemies whose heads he took). Finally rows of stones, (not carved), one for every woman he seduced. |

Chizema - no tradition of carved wooden grave figures. Murozu Angami used to carve the stone heads and figures - no payment - he was merely fed by the family - while carving he was genna (ie. no sex - no meeting or eating outside the house). |
