text: As the gate is being dragged in no one who is not of the Khel nor of a Khel in alliance may touch the ropes or cross the two lines of dragging warriors. If a stranger did so, he was formerly pierced with the blunt end of a spear and even today he would be immediately set upon and beaten. (As I went along, I myself almost crossed a line and was at once implored to keep outside.)
