text: When the gate is being pulled to the village, the greatest care is taken to avoid anything which smacks of death. If anyone in the Khel has died and is still unburied, no one in the house may attend the ceremony neither may any member of the Khel visit the corpse. If anyone who had entered the house participates in the dragging, the whole rite will be attended by disaster.
text: When the Tsotonoma Khel of Kohima dragged its gate in 1947, a Christian girl had died the previous night. None of the Khel members however were allowed to enter the house as all were required to assist in the ceremony.
