text: Shengha - Chien
text: Chien took one head from Shengha this March - at war for many years - no notice so far taken (tribal area?)
text: Shengha - Tang
text: At present nothing.
text: Chingai v. little information. Shengha came to see me. Shengha (Chingyu - the bigger village) in the last year Shengha have got 4 heads (from Chien) and lost 3 (2 to Chien, 1 to Tang). Year before Shengha got 16 (10 from Chien, 6 from Tang) & lost 1 (to Chien) - year in year out for many years - Shengha is at war with 20 villages - Shengha is fairly big, Chien is even bigger (10 khels).
text: Chien at war with about 12 villages.
text: Head-taking with guns is of old standing - at least 50 years - the only difference is that the guns are now rather better and rather more - method to shoot and then cut.
text: The real need is for a Wakching subdivision - ie. the S.D.O. must be based on Wakching.
text: At Oting - 10 families of Shengha had come to settle - 17/3
text: 'Our enemies were getting too much for us' - arrived the same day as I did - went to houses of their friends. 8 families of Yangyu went to Laba last year -
text: 'You are our mother, take us in your clan' - We then give them some of the clan land - takes nothing in return.
