text: 12 noon on 30/1 - news that fighting broken out in Longmien - village on fire - could see smoke from Wakching - Chinlong came in - said there had been a lot of firing early in the morning - not known whether morung v. morung or an attack by Tsawlaw party - wanted orders what to do - advised them to evacuate all women and children at once and authorized them to resist with all possible force any attack (wanted my permission which I gave). 3pm. News came in from Totok that the camp which they had helped a few survivors to erect near Choknyu was attacked last night and every person killed - Totok want permission to attack the party if it comes near them - gave them permission - but told them to wait before attacking Chen itself -
