text: Kohima - Independence Day. Mrs Kevichusa hoisted a Naga cloth on a bamboo outside her house - 'the Naga flag' - Kohima very angry - mob gathered - insisted on taking it down - Pawsey went - crowd would not disperse - finally P. had the cloth taken down - Mrs Kevichusa in hysterics.
text: Civil Surgeon hoisted a flag outside his house but the Nagas took it down - The flag ceremony and march past boycotted by Nagas. Question of the new oath of allegiance - Naga Govt. servants refusing to take it.
text: Khonoma group sent out 12 telegrams announcing independence on 14/8 but all intercepted by Pawsey and not sent - therefore no Naga news in press.
text: H.E. authorized Pawsey not to accept Kevichusa's resignation (Kevichusa undecided and uncertain).
text: H.E. willing to accept revised clause 9 provided it did not concede the right to leave the Indian Union - Pawsey asked NNC whether they would agree.
text: Khonoma linked up with Mao (Manipur) - having declared independence did not know what next to do - began to come round to the 10 years' interim period.
