Yimchungr villages and clothing |

Yimchungr. General impression - the villages in the main resemble Sema ones - the houses wander down the sloping sides of a hill - neither too close nor too far apart. The general absence of all art, tallies or decoration - no houses are carved - Y posts are rare - even the log-drum tends to have only a crude shapeless neck. A similar lack of gaiety in clothes - the women's dress a sombre black - the women move with stiff decorum. There is a solemnity about a Yimchungr village which I have never noticed in any village of other Nagas. |

Men's cloth terracotta - cowrie circles - indigo cloaks. |

Yimchungr hillside bare & dessicated - with only a few patches of forest - the barest landscape I saw. |
