text: 1. Carved and decorated pipes.
text: 2. Carvings of men, women, heads, tigers, lizards, mithan, monkeys. 'If a man takes a head, he keeps a wooden replica. If he kills a tiger or a mithan, he keeps a wooden copy'.
text: For all carving, the carver observes a genna (no sexual intercourse, no food given from his house to others, no food accepted from those not of his house, no one not of the house can enter it, a state of ritual seclusion.) 'If he did not do this, his hand would slip, and the carving would be spoilt'. Phom (Yangpier - Naga term) - Mongnu village - 30 miles from Ungr famous for its carvings - Tsushitongba, gb. of Ungr asked to bring 20 finished examples on 15th April.
