text: 3/6/47 Attlee in the House - Sir Walter Smiles asked a question about 3) the tribes in the North East frontier which he said the Prime Minister had not mentioned.
text: Mr Attlee: In regard to the tribes in the North East frontier, they come into the province of Assam and they will be dealt with by the Constituent Assembly of which Assam forms a part.
text: Talks with Philip Mills - agreed that what was wanted was a state aided by the Centre - under a Centre representative (not the Governor) - economic relations to develop gradually.
