text: | In the middle of the village was the morung or bachelors' dormitory. It looked like the other houses but for privacy the front was entirely closed with palm leaves and the roof sloped at a sharper angle. The main post was carved with tigers and horn-bills. But amongst the Aos, the morung has nowadays only a vestige of its former importance. It has ceased to be a daily club for the boys and in most villages is only used at feasts. |
