right to decide own future after ten years |

Late last night agreement was reached. The Ao members yielded and the N.N.C. decided to change clause 9. They will now press the Angami case and demand 'the right to decide their own future after ten years.' This decision which has preserved Naga unity seems however to have split the Aos. All the morning, excited angry groups of villagers have been standing round complaining of Mayang's 'treachery'. Late last night they angrily abused him. 'We stood by the Governor's agreement', they said, 'what right had you to change it?' Mayang and the other Ao members are very annoyed and we have just heard that they have resigned from the council. |
