Tsawlaw raid on Konyak village of Wangpi |
text: |
This ended for the time being all raids in this area, but in the last three weeks yet other villages have been affected. Early in July, the notorious village of Tsawlaw, the scene of many encounters with the Burma Frontier forces and now armed with several hundred rifles and two Bren guns, attacked the Konyak village of Wangpi. Wangpi were warned of the attack by another village and fled to the jungle. But their flight did not save them for the Tsawlaw party caught up with some stragglers and took twenty heads. Since another village gave Wangpi warning, Tsawlaw have now announced their intention of raiding them as well 'by way of discipline'. |
