text: 22 August. Kohima.
text: Today we made an early start. It was still cold and grey. The sky was a gentle lemon and on the hills there were wisps of silver cloud.
text: After eight miles two jeeps and a trailer were waiting to take us the last twenty-four to Kohima. We got away quickly, but it took us three and a half hours to do this distance. There had been heavy rain and all the low lying parts (50) of the road were thick with sticky mud.
