comparison between Aos and Semas |
text: |
It is strange how differently two persons can react to Nagas or how two tribes can change. The Semas, Dr. Hutton wrote in 1916, are 'perhaps the most attractive of the tribes'. But to me, at least, the Aos are in every way more charming and now that we are back among them I find my spirits rising. As we reached the Longsa bungalow, the caretaker came to meet us. In his bright red and blue apron, his enormous shell necklace, and his dark blue cloth vivid with red stripes, he was a dashing sight. Leaving the Sema country, it is as if we have left behind all that is dull and drab. (86) |
