text: After more than a month in small and dark rest houses, the bungalow seems oddly bright and cheerful. In the hall head- hunting spears and daos welcome us with their scarlet tassels. In the sitting room, slender wooden dolls gaze meekly with blue eyes, while jaunty wooden tigers, the tally of a man's prowess, stare from the mantlepiece. And after all these nights on sagging beds, hard beds, creaking beds and lively beds, we sleep as if 'on seas of delight.'
