text: In the evening the presentation daos were divided out between the interpreters, porters and sepoys. I had no idea it was such a serious business. Edges were thumbed, the daos were weighed on the hand and practise slashes were made in the air to test the balance. There seems great eagerness to possess these daos and they were carried off with contented smiles.
