Wakching 8/7/1936. Because Mills had to negotiate with two tea planters after breakfast, we only started at half past ten in the greatest heat. First we went the same way as yesterday to the outpost below Kongnyu which Mills had to inspect. In the meantime fog had risen and it started to rain, but after a short while the sun came back. From the outpost we went uphill for a considerable while, then down again to a lower ridge which links the Kongnyu mountains with the Wakching range. It was terribly hot in the jungle on this ridge which was probably hardly higher than Borjan. |
