At the bungalow we were awaited by a group of men in completely fantastic, picturesque costumes. This was the Ang of Seng-ha with his entourage, as well as the sub-Ang of Chi with several people. The Ang of Seng-ha was wearing a high construction on his head. A monkey's skull surrounded by boars' tusks was sumounted by a superstructure of bamboo fibres dyed red and yellow and above it hornbill feathers finished it all off. The lower arms and legs were covered with rattan rings dyed red. A tight rattan belt stretched around the surprisingly thin waistline and a narrow cloth hung from it which covered the genitalia in front of you but not in profile (film 16 nos. 21-24) |
