text: While I was offered rice beer he told us that today the entire village had gone on a tiger hunt. Soon we also could see from the path that the steeply descending area of jungle had been surrounded and that a bamboo fence was being set up at the lower edge. My doubts about whether the tiger would actually be in that particular part of the jungle were brushed aside by the assurances that his tracks had led into it. I quickened my steps in the direction of the village at the entrance of which stood two gate guardian stones.
