text: When working out the date of the Ou-nie-bu in Wanching it turned out today is the fourth day of the Naga month Ou-nie-li, indeed it is the fourth day after the new moon when the new month starts. In the evening came some mail, among it a letter from Mills according to which the Government of Assam had given permission for me to accompany him on the expedition into the tribal area provided the Government of India sanctions the entire undertaking. I hadn't felt such happiness for a long time and I was so excited that I wrote and read past midnight.
