Chinyak does not participate in the initiation of the girls which takes place when they are about ten years old, apparently independently of the beginning of menstruation. The clan elder kills the pig. The women and girls of the family take the meat and rice to the women's platform at the village path and they consume it there. After the ceremony which is also held on the same day for all girls in a year, the girls wear an apron. The girls initiation takes place a little while after that for the boys. |
