Tamlu customs, magic properties of stones |
text: |
After lunch came the schoolteacher with whom I mostly talked about Tamlu customs. There they have a stone at which pigs and chickens are sacrificed at the time of opening up new fields. It is remarkable that the teacher is completely convinced that in it lives a spirit with wife and child, but it would leave the stone immediately if the offering stopped. There also is a small round stone in Tamlu called 'rice stone' the owner of which brings an offering after the rice harvest. (notebook 6 p. 2). |
