A rather uneventful day when I tried to find out something about food gennas. Taboo for all of Wakching without difference by age or gender are goats, the small red monkeys, all snakes including python, crows because they eat human corpses, Burmese White-headed Laughing Thrush (in Wakching called au-chok or kokdziok, in Shiong hokang-shu), Burmese Minivet (Pericrocotus Brevirostris) the Ang of birds, (the Wakching name is ou-kan-angshan), only old men eat the meat of the Great Indian Hornbill bird (Dichoceros Bicornis) and only a few old men eat meat of the tiger. The meat of a domestic animal killed by a tiger is only eaten by its owner and his household but he does not take it (6) into his house but either cooks it in the jungle or in his morung. If he would give it to other people the tiger would kill more animals. |
