mixed crops of rice and taro |

This field has only been planted with rice but further towards Shiong there are fields with tall taro plants in between the rice (33) and in addition there are often even beans growing up poles. On some of these fields with a mixed crop several trees have been left to grow. The huge sap green leaves of the taro plant present a picturesque appearance especially when seen against the sun as then the light shines through the veins of the leaves and their green lights up in a warm tone while the smooth surface of others brilliantly reflects the rays. A lonely woman carrying a huge load of rice straw in her basket to the field hut is glad to be photographed and in general is cheerful and not at all shy. Once it starts to rain then the sun comes out again only to disappear immediately as soon as I get out the camera. |
