taboos connected with childbirth |
text: |
Shankok came again early in the morning and I renewed his bandage. As he cannot go out to work anyway he stayed here and answered some questions. After the birth of a child for six days the house is genna for people from another village and for a whole month for strangers who come from across a big river such as, for example, Chui or Totok. The number of genna days is the same for a boy or a girl. (For the following ceremony see notebook 6 p. 139 following). |
