Next to this room but not connected to it is the big room with the hearth where also all tools, pots and baskets are put (H). Separated from it by a wall (91) but using the same entrance there is a chamber with a single bed (G). On the other side of the passage (F) which is at right angles to the long room (C) is the room of the Ang's son (E). He sleeps on his bed (b) together with his Ang wife while his two Ben wives have their own beds (c). Separate from the big open hall (L) is furthermore a room with machans on three sides (K) which serves as a 'morung' for the girls of the Ang morung. Young men of the Long-dze morung sleep with them here. Only separated by a passage (D) from the Ang son's chamber there is a room (B) with a hearth which is only separated from the anteroom (A) by a low wall and here the seat of the Ang (a) stands, similar to a huge bed. The Ang sits in this room when he has visitors especially if they come from other villages. A row of hornbill heads is at both ends of the seat. |
