text: Just as I was strolling through the village looking for motifs, boys came from Punkhung with the doctor's answer and a bottle of medicine. Apparently the different messengers walked all night long. The doctor's diagnosis is not very pleasant. He says gonorrhoea and I do not doubt that he is right. Stupidly I had not thought of venereal disease. No doubt Tsampio caught this in Kohima where he was while I was in Borjan. Today he is so ill (117) that he can barely move and tomorrow I have to send him to Wakching on a stretcher. In my camp the Oting people put the stretcher together surprisingly quickly. Of course my work suffered from all the consultation and activity.
