Today Shankok slaughters a pig which is killed by the clan elder while reciting a chant for the well being of the morung boys. In addition this morning comes Yonglong, the Neangba of the Oukheang morung, the successor to Chinyak who has died during the last fourteen days, into every house of the men whose sons will enter the morung and he is offered rice and madhu. Not much else is done today in respect of this ceremony apart from the boys and girls of the families where a boy enters the morung who take turns beating the great drum. |
