difficulties of dragging in morung post |
text: |
The last steep stretch between the rice granaries costs a lot of effort and once they have arrived in the village there are (161) new difficulties to get the trunk around the corners. A particular obstacle is the "morung Ang's house" (see p. 156) and indeed one of its carved door posts becomes a victim of the trunks force as it brushes by but finally they are successful with united force to pull the trunk onto the place next to the morung where is it then turned over and put closely to the side of the morung. The long rattan ropes however were fastened to the morung's roof and were looped around the post sticking out of the roof next door so that now the pole hangs between the two houses. |
