text: Went to the village in the morning to see what the The-pong men were doing today. Yongang told me that they were all going out to fell trees and that he would go soon too. In the meantime I went ahead and I found a whole lot of men gathered at one of the The-pong rest houses, the one towards Wanching. Although it already must have been half past nine they did not seem to think it was time to start working. Instead they were chewing betel and chatting waiting for their companions who now came along one after the other.
