In the Ou-hui morung stood the unhusked rice which is given as tribute to Wakching. Chintang has an extremely heavy load of tribute payments. Wakching receives a basket full of rice annually from each household plus ten big carrier baskets from each morung. Chi gets five big baskets of rice from (169) each of the two morungs. Totok and Wanching receive only a nominal tribute, the former a very small basket of rice from each morung and Wanching some taro and meat. At the Ou-ling-bu Chintang also sends small gifts of meat to Wakching and Chi. Chintang formerly secured itself Wakching's protection through this tribute in its numerous feuds with Chinlong and Totok. |
