(199) Soon afterwards we reached the forest which covers the entire summit. It is totally different from the low-lying growth. Wild bananas and the usual bamboo are missing completely. Only a very thin spiky bamboo type can grow here but it is of little use. Huge foliage trees stretch their gnarled storm-blown branches towards the sky and a thick underbrush covers the slopes. The clouds got stuck on this ridge and now rain was added to the thick fog. But that too passed quickly and the sun comes out between torn clouds just as we reach the open height where our camp has been prepared and where the houses of the village stand. |
