text: Chingmak presented Mills and myself each with a dao. Mine has that antiquated shape with a metal handle and was made in Wui the village of famous blacksmiths which is apparently immediately on the border to Burma. The goods reached the Chang via Noklak. (219) In Chingmak's house we also saw thread and cloth made from the fibre of a bush called Leikin by the Chang. According to Hutton the bush is an Urticacae of the type Debregeasia Velutina. The cloth is much coarser than the bark fibre of the Konyak.
