text: Gradually the people realised that we were not going to harm them and they gathered around us in larger numbers. One old man was wearing a coarse cloak made of the bark fibre commonly found here. (Compare p. 219). Mills noticed some long feathered throwing arrows of bamboo which are used for the defence of the village. (224) The feathery part is made of banana leaf.
