In the meantime Smith has gone to the upper khel with several coolies and after shooting and spearing cows and pigs this is set alight as well. When he enters it there still seem to be some Pangsha men in it (247) who instead of taking the opportunity to throw themselves on him and the coolies, flea from the khel and thereby enter the firing range of Balbahadur. He lets fire at a distance of about 250 metres. About six men seem to be hit, but it is unclear whether they are only injured and are crouching in the jungle or whether this or that man has actually been killed. The territory is such that Balbahadur does not take the risk of searching for them. |
