text: On Chingmei's request and apparently under the pressure of our presence the Ponyo people brought this supposed slave into our camp, but he does not seem to desire a change of his fate. He speaks Ponyo and has forgotten his Chang and he is tattooed and dressed in Ponyo fashion. As he is married to a Ponyo woman and is apparently a respected member of the village he has no intention of returning to Chingmei, but Ponyo agrees to let him go if he should feel the wish to do so.
