(38) The Yakko khel behaves much friendlier and they seem less disturbed about our arrival. The Sangpurr people did not have much luck in their recent war excursions. Last year they attacked Chashirr and captured two heads but they were pursued and lost nine of their best warriors who had tried to cover the retreat, but that did not deter them to start another offensive of Chashirr recently in which they got not a single head but lost three Sangpurr men. Their excursion against Chentang, half of which they burnt down recently, also was not a complete success as they lost a head and did not capture a single one. But it would be a total mistake to deduce from this that Sangpurr would take this misfortune to heart and keep peace for a while. For these people, a few heads lost are no reason to give up their national sport. |
