text: The women too have come together and I am watching a group which is squatting on the ground preparing pan leaves with chalk for the dancers. On one of the flat winnowers (105) a woman spreads out pan leaves, then smears a small lump of chalk onto each one, folds all of them up and a girl passes them among the dancers who put them into their mouths during the dance.
