go down to Borjan through jungle |
text: |
As today nothing more is to be observed I go down to Borjan. We go on the Naga path. At a fork in the trail we take the wrong turn and soon find ourselves in dense jungle on a path which apparently goes directly down to the Dikhu. Indeed we soon come to a stream which runs into the Dikhu. But the river is so deep here that we cannot consider wading the approximate 200 metres to the position below Castle's bungalow. Although this is only an annoying and in no ways serious situation, it gives me an indication (117) of what it must mean to actually lose ones way in the jungle. Without any trail it is impossible to go half a mile without tearing up all ones clothes. Finally all is well as I get the idea of walking up the stream and soon we find a path which leads us to the bungalow. Together with Castle I spent a not very Christmas-like, but nevertheless comfortable evening and the letters from Vienna and England bring me a reflection of Christmas atmosphere. |
