Christmas picnic on Dikhu |
text: |
Three huts make up the camp where Mr Ashfield is spending the Christmas holidays with three guests. We meet all of them further upstream, then float down together with them and drink tea with them in their camp. Except for once we remain in the boat through all the rapids and speed past the big boulders in a precariously rocking boat. Several times we get stuck on rocks (119) and the boat's people have to jump out and set us free again. As we now glide down the river in the evening atmosphere we see numerous monkeys coming down out of the trees and going to their watering place. The sun has just gone down when we reach the bungalow. In the evening we eat plum pudding together with Castle's assistant, Smith, and listen to the radio; the Christmas messages from around the world. |
