Aukheang morung perform final ceremony for head, feasting and dancing |

In the morning I go to the Aukheang. The people are still busy with preparations for the feast. Several young men sit in front of the morung on the beams which are already lying there for next year's rebuilding and they are decorating their baskets with palm leaf strips. Arranging the feathers on their hats is also a task which requires time and full attention. Chinyang who I meet in front of the morung leads me to the "Great House" of his clan, Khoknokhu, whose owner is Shou-ba. Here the ancestor of the Khoknokhu built his house at the time of the village founding (176) and each house which stands on this place is the clan's ceremonial centre. Shou-ba's household receives a leg from every pig which a Knoknok man slaughters. In return all clan members gather here in the morning and they are served rice, vegetable and madhu as well as pork. |
